Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are sharing an update on the continuous, heavy-hitting operations being conducted by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to eliminate networks that target the most vulnerable among us. As we move through June and July of 2026, major crackdowns have brought light into dark places, securing arrests and historic prison sentences for child exploitation.
Here are the latest operational details of these significant victories.
1. Five Arrested in Multi-agency Upstate New York Sting (June 2026)
A major multi-agency Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) sting operation coordinated by the New York State Police (Troop F) culminated in the arrest of five individuals attempting online exploitation of minors in Rockland County, NY.
- The Operation: Undercover cyber-crime investigators posed as minors online. The suspects engaged in explicit communications and actively traveled to pre-arranged locations in Rockland County intending to meet children in person.
- The Arrests: Between June 12 and June 23, 2026, five men were apprehended and arraigned on severe felony charges, including Attempted Rape in the Second Degree and Attempted Disseminating Indecent Materials to a Minor.
- Agencies Involved: Led by the New York State Police in partnership with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office ICAC Task Force, local town departments (Ramapo, Clarkstown, Orangetown), and federal partners including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
2. Operation Grayskull: Dismantling Global Dark Web Networks
Federal law enforcement announced monumental closures in Operation Grayskull, a massive joint initiative spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI.
- The Operation: Operation Grayskull successfully eradicated four major, highly hidden dark web networks dedicated to the distribution and production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- The Impact: The operation cracked down heavily on the administrators and staff who managed these illicit forums globally. To date, the operation has netted 18 high-level convictions in the United States alone—collectively accounting for over 300 years in federal prison sentences.
- Sentencing Milestones: Recent sentencings include key platform managers receiving massive terms, such as a Minnesota man sentenced to over 20 years (250 months) in prison and life-long supervision, alongside ringleaders handed life sentences for engaging in child exploitation enterprises.
Reporting & Resources: Be a Part of the Shield
Law enforcement relies heavily on community vigilance and online tips to build these cases. If you ever suspect or encounter the production, distribution, or facilitation of child exploitation materials, please utilize these critical reporting avenues immediately:
- NCMEC CyberTipline: Report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or call 1-800-843-5678.
- FBI Electronic Tip Line: Submit direct criminal leads to federal investigators online at tips.fbi.gov.
- New York State Police (Troop F): For regional concerns in upstate NY, contact information can be found via the New York State Police Official Portal.
