Search underway for missing 2-year-old Virginia boy:

by:

Updated: Jun 26, 2019 / 08:31 AM EDT

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Officials with Hampton Police say there is no end in sight yet in the search for 2-year-old Noah Tomlin.

Hampton Police have now searched for two days, but there’s been no sign of the toddler. They say they’ve exhausted all reasonable efforts at their original area near Buckroe Beach and will be moving to other areas of the city in the coming days.

Sgt. Reginald Williams said the organized search parties have completed multiple searches in multiple areas. He said they are continuing the search and that “locating this juvenile is an extremely high priority.” They are working at full capacity with help from outside resources.

The search efforts began Monday morning, continued overnight and resumed Tuesday. On the ground and in the air, police are racing against the clock to find the toddler. Williams confirmed police were also at a nearby landfill for “surveillance purposes only … in case the investigation turns that way.”

“We’re looking for some areas we might have missed so we can go through those areas with a fine tooth comb and make sure we haven’t overlooked anything,” said Williams.

Sgt. Williams said the child’s parents are cooperating. As far as the investigation goes, he said they are considering every option – from a potential abduction to a missing child. The parents were released from police questioning, and Williams says the department cannot disclose any persons of interest at this time.

The search for 2-year-old Noah Tomlin resume Tuesday morning in Hampton.
“We’re pouring everything we have into the search and we’re just asking anybody that knows any information or has any information that could lead to us finding this child, please contact us,” said Sgt. Williams.

Police said every resource available is being used to find the toddler and they’ve contacted the FBI for assistance.

View image on Twitter
Police said the toddler was last seen around 1 a.m. Monday morning when his mother put him down to sleep. We’re told Noah’s mother reported him missing around 11:30 a.m.

“We were looking around for him,” said Terry Dieringer, a nearby resident. “We were looking everywhere ourselves for about two or three hours and nothing.”

“There’s so much going through my head,” said Katie Allen. “I feel crazy just thinking about it because my little boy, he’s almost 2 years old.”

Police taped off part of S. First Street, where neighbors said the child lives.

There are investigators and officers on site that are pursuing every aspect of the investigation from the origin of where the child went missing,” Sgt. Williams said, in reference to S. First Street.

One woman we spoke to didn’t want to go on camera but she tells 10 On Your Side she had just come home for lunch when she realized something was wrong.

“I see the kids down the street, my neighbors, yelling ‘Noah Noah,’” the woman said.

The woman even saw a forensics unit. She also said officers were also going door to door looking for surveillance video.

Police said they are looking into every possible scenario ranging from the child wandering off to foul play.

“All of that is still under investigation,” Williams said. “We’re not ruling it out. We are considering it as a possibility and we are exploring every possible avenue.”

The community is trying to remain optimistic during this difficult time.
“It’s sad. It’s a sad situation. I hope they find him,” Dieringer said.

Noah was last seen wearing a white and green pajama shirt with a diaper.

If you have any information that could help in finding Noah, call Hampton police at 757-727-6111.

Missing Girl, 15, Found Dead in Industrial Area of Compton Had ‘Traumatic’ Injury

BY  AND

A death investigation is underway after the body of a missing 15-year-old girl was found with a "traumatic" injury in an industrial part of Compton on Monday, authorities said.

Homicide detectives responded to the 500 block of West Victoria Street after the discovery of a body was made shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner as Samantha Bustos-Vital. The girl's family contacted KTLA saying she had been missing since Friday after hanging out with friends.

According to sheriff's officials, the teen resided in an unincorporated area of Gardena and was officially reported missing by family members on Sunday.

She was found Monday after suffering a "traumatic" injury to her upper torso, the sheriff's release stated.

The area where her body was discovered is near the fenced-off Dominguez Hills Industrial Park, a portion of which was cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape throughout the morning, video from the scene showed.

National Retail System is located on the property and personnel are cooperating with the investigation, according to Andy Miller, the company's executive vice president.

“I got a call early this morning that they had found a body on the perimeter of the property," Miller told KTLA. "We’re cooperating with the police in every way possible. They asked for camera footage over a period of time.”

Detectives told KTLA the girl's body was found face down and concealed in bushes.

Coroner's officials have ruled her death a homicide, but the cause was being withheld due to the ongoing investigation, the Sheriff's Department said.

It is also unclear exactly how long the body was at the location before being discovered.

“They believe it happened sometime Saturday evening," Miller said.

Detectives are now trying to identify a suspect or suspects and determine a motive.

In an email to KTLA, the victim's cousin said Bustos never returned home after hanging out with friends Friday afternoon, "which is not normal behavior." She didn't answer her cellphone, which was shut off after midnight, according to the cousin.

The family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for Bustos' funeral costs.

No additional details have been released amid the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by dialing 800-222-8477, or visiting the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.

Search continues for Indianapolis baby Amiah Robertson

Amiah Robertson was reported missing on March 16.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police say the search for a missing 8-month-old baby is being treated as a homicide investigation.

Chief Bryan Roach called a news conference Saturday and expressed frustration over a lack of cooperation from people who should be able to help authorities. He says he's "angry," a week after Amiah Robertson was reported missing by her family.

The chief says, "Somebody knows the whereabouts."

Police and volunteers have been searching along the White River in Indianapolis, based on certain items found along the bank.

Amiah Robertson, an eight-month-old baby, went missing last week.

Asked if he believes Amiah is alive, Lt. Bruce Smith says investigators "hope for the best" but can't ignore the fact that the baby can't take care of herself.

Amiah was reported missing on March 16 and police issued a statewide Silver Alert for her on Tuesday.

Robertson's mother is not a suspect and has been cooperating with detectives, police told WRTV.

On Tuesday, Indianapolis detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of South Holmes Avenue, according to a press release.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call IMPD Missing Person's detectives at 317-327-6160, 317-327-3811 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.

Missing Fort Lauderdale teen featured on new John Walsh investigation series

By  Contact ReporterSouth Florida Sun Sentinel

The teen with the wavy brown hair and shy smile was last seen leaving her home in Fort Lauderdale. That was almost two years ago and her family and police continue searching for Sophie Reeder, now 17.

The case is getting renewed attention on the new John Walsh investigation and missing person’s show “In Pursuit with John Walsh,’’ which was scheduled to air a segment on the teen’s disappearance Wednesday on Investigation Discovery.
Reeder lived with her father, Patrick Reeder, in Fort Lauderdale where she was enrolled in a virtual school. Evidence from her computer suggests that she may be with an adult male predator, according to the show.
Flyers with her photo and description have been distributed over the past two years in South Florida and on social media. She was last seen walking away from her home at 1308 Citrus Isle, according to Fort Lauderdale police. And she was known to hang out near Stranahan High School.
The Investigation Discovery show debuted Jan. 16 and highlights two missing children as well as unsolved violent crimes each week. The show airs 10 p.m. Wednesdays on the cable network.

To help spark leads for the missing children cases, the show is using “age-progression photos and descriptions.”
“If at least one child comes home and one homicide is solved, we will have done our job,” said John Walsh, the former South Florida resident who is a host and executive producer of the series, which has a partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or NCMEC where son Callahan Walsh works. Callahan Walsh also appears on the show as a roving reporter who visits the scenes of violent crimes in search of clues to find fugitives.
Anyone with information on Sophie Reeder or other cases is asked to call the show’s call center at 1-833-3-PURSUE or submit a tip at www.InPursuitTips.com. Anonymous tips are accepted.

The search for missing Sarasota teen, Jabez Spann, continues through his 16th birthday

Another birthday has come for a missing Sarasota teenager, who vanished more than a year ago. Detectives and federal agents believe someone knows what happened, but they are not any closer in finding an answer.
Thursday marks the 16th birthday of Jabez Spann. He was 14 when he disappeared in September 2017 following a Labor Day barbecue. Ever since, Sarasota police said it’s been more than a year of false leads and dead ends.

Spann is listed as a missing, endangered child. It’s believed he had witnessed the murder of 31-year-old Travis Combs on August 28, according to the FBI. Combs was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body in a grassy lot near 22nd Street and North Orange Avenue. There is still no word on whether it is connected to Spann’s disappearance.
The day before Spann’s birthday, Sarasota police reminded the public through its Facebook page that they are still searching for him.

“As the holidays approach, we're still continuing to work with the FBI Tampa Field Office and FDLE on the disappearance of #JabezSpann,” the agency wrote on its Facebook page. “We believe SOMEONE in our community knows SOMETHING! Please come forward.”

There’s a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department at 941-316-1201 or 911. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 941-366-8477.

Police ask for public's help searching for missing 6-year-old thought to be endangered

A six-year-old Camdenton boy whose mother is allegedly refusing to abide by court-ordered custody could still be in danger and in the company of a man who is not allowed to be near him.

Authorities say they have more vehicle information in the ongoing search for six-year-old Bradence Christian Jones: namely, a new license plate for the gray 2000 Toyota Camry that may be used by one of the people associated with Bradence's disappearance. The former license plate was Missouri SR5-K7T, but it may have a new license plate with TA1-H6X.

On Oct. 24, the Camden County Sheriff's Office issued the first Endangered Person Advisory for Jones.

Bradence Christian Jones is a white male, age 6, is 3' 5", 36 lbs, with brown hair, brown eyes, and fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, red cut-off sweatpants, and Batman sandals. The incident that ultimately triggered the Endangered Person Advisory occurred on Aug. 3, 2018 at 9293 Route D, in Camdenton.

Authorities say Bradence’s father has court-ordered custody through Camden County, but the mother, Aubrey Ferguson, is refusing to return the child to the father after her visitation. The Camden County Sheriff's Department says several attempts have been made to contact Ferguson, who they think is possibly in the company of Woodrow Ziegler. Ziegler is not allowed to have contact with the child, per court order.

Vehicle Information:

Red 2004 Honda Civic bearing Missouri, DR1-T8R

Gray 2000 Toyota Camry bearing Missouri, SR5-K7T or TA1-H6X

Possible suspects or associates are believed to be:

Aubrey Susan Sky Ferguson, a white female, age 30, hgt 5' 7", 101 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes, fair complexion.

Woodrow Allen Ziegler, a white male, age 41, hgt 5' 10", 250 lbs, green eyes.

Anyone seeing the missing person, suspect, associate, or vehicle, or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Camden County Sheriff's Office at 573-346-2243.

Investigators believe a body found in North Carolina is a 13-year-old girl kidnapped from her home three weeks ago.

Authorities said at a news conference Wednesday that preliminary tests show the body found a day earlier is that of Hania Aguilar.

The body was found in a body of water in Robeson County about 10 miles south of the mobile home park where she was kidnapped on Nov. 5 after going outside to start a relative's SUV before school.

Police say a man forced the teenager into an SUV and drove off. The SUV was found several miles south of her mobile home park. The body was found a few miles farther away.

LIVE - Lumberton Police Department news conference:

The FBI issued a news release late Tuesday saying a body found in Robeson County earlier in the day was being taken to Raleigh for an autopsy and identification.

But authorities have not confirmed whether the body is Aguilar.
Police say a man forced the teenager into an SUV and drove off. The SUV was found several miles south of her mobile home park. The body was found a few miles farther away.
Authorities plan to hold a news conference at the Lumberton Police Department at 3:30 p.m. to provide an update on the investigation.

Roanoke PD, Montgomery sheriff's office provide updates in missing baby case

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR News) - The Roanoke Police Department, as well as the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, provided updates in the case of the missing Roanoke baby, Arieanna Day.
"Three-month-old Arieanna can't speak for herself so we ask that you speak for her," said Roanoke Police Chief Tim Jones.
Jones considers the search for Arieanna to be a recovery effort.
"As far as I'm concerned Arienna is deceased," Jones said.
Earlier in the day, concerned citizens passed out flyers in the Roanoke area.
"I just want to make sure she doesn't get lost or forgotten," said Carey Hampton. She and others handed out 100 flyers in the hopes of keeping the missing girl at the forefront of people's minds.
"This community, especially Roanoke, needs to continue to hear her name until she's brought home. Whether she's deceased or alive," said Mallory Thornton, a social media advocate.
Police say they continue to look for Arieanna and are using Dr. Arpad Vass, a forensic expert at the University of Tennessee, to assist in the recovery effort. Jones described the type of technology Vass uses as groundbreaking.
"His instrument is something like, I would refer to it as a bloodhound on steroids," said Jones.
He also said that samples have been recovered in the search of Arieanna, but did not specify what those samples were. He said those samples have been sent to the state forensic lab, but could be 90 days out from getting results.
Jones also said Arieanna's father, Andrew Terry, is a suspect in the case. Terry has been charged with illegal disposal of a body based on statements he made to police. Jones stated that Arieanna's mother, Jessica Day, is considered a strong person of interest.
"She is one of the last ones to see Arieanna alive. You can kind of connect the dots. How do you go from that child laying in a child's bed in the evening to being missing?" Jones said.
Both police and community residents are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
"If you know something, say something. Somebody knows something. Someone in this area had to see something," said Thornton.
It has been more than two months since Arieanna was reported missing on September 11th.
"We're soon into the Christmas season. There will be some little one not at the table this year. Because of something that someone who was vital to her safety or entrusted to her safety did," Jones said.
Chief Jones said they and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office have covered a tremendous area while searching for Day.
Sheriff Hank Partin said they've used as many resources as they can to find the missing baby.
Both Partin and Jones pleaded with the community to come forward with any information.

Lucas Warriors raise awareness for missing 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A group who calls themselves the Lucas Warriors gathered outside Intrust Bank Arena today and it wasn't to watch basketball.

The Lucas Warriors is a group here in Kansas who hopes to find Lucas Hernandez.

On Saturday, members stood outside Intrust Bank Arena with signs in hand in hopes of bringing Lucas home.

The Lucas Warriors talked to both Kansans and out of state fans about Lucas Hernandez and spreading the word about his disappearance.

"I love to tell his story. I think he's such a precious little boy. I think everybody just needs to know his story," says Julie LaForce.

Even if for some it wasn't easy.

"I know myself personally, I'm extremely quiet and kind of shy, so to be out here in the middle of thousands of people is a hard thing for me to do. But at this point, I would do anything to bring Lucas home," says Sheila Medlam.

The group say they have received training from Texas Equusearch to help find Lucas. They also say they're working with Lucas' dad Jonathan and his family to get help from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

As fans asked them "Who's Lucas?" the warrior group was glad they could bring awareness to his disappearance.

"What brings a better crowd than college basketball? Especially since we have Kansas, KU playing here. He needs to go national. He can't be forgotten. I'm not going to let him slip through the cracks. None of us are."

Retrial for confessed Etan Patz murderer reset for winter:

The retrial of the murder and kidnapping case of Etan Patz, a Jewish boy who disappeared in 1979 in New York, has been rescheduled for the winter.

New York judge Justice Maxwell Wiley set a new date of February 22, 2016 to allow the case’s new prosecutor ample time to prepare the retrial of the alleged abductor.

The murder and abduction case was reopened over 30 years after Patz’s disappearance. Acting on the tip from a relative, police arrested the accused, Pedro Hernandez, 54, of Maple Shade, New Jersey.

Relatives told the media Hernandez has a long history of mental illness. Prosecutors, however, felt confident that 20 years of medical records supported their conclusion that Hernandez was “credible and persuasive.”

The case ended in a mistrial this past May when the jury could not reach a decision. Of 12 jurors, one refrained from voting to convict.

Patz’s abduction is considered one of the most notorious child kidnappings in US history. It led to a nationwide movement that can be traced to today’s Amber Alerts, which notify drivers of missing children.

His image was reportedly the first of a missing child reproduced on a milk carton. In 1983, then-US president Ronald Reagan designated May 25, the anniversary of his disappearance as “National Missing Children’s Day.”

Six-year-old Patz disappeared near West Broadway and Prince Street in Manhattan on the first day his parents gave him permission to walk to his school bus stop unaccompanied. He left home and never returned.

A New York judge did not declared the kindergartner legally dead until 2001.

When Hernandez confessed to the killing, The New York Times reported that he told police he took the boy inside a local bodega, a Hispanic mini-mart. Patz’s body was never found.

Based on his confession, Hernandez was charged in November 2012 with second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

Sheriff's office offers $50,000 for info about Kyron Horman:

Screen Shot 2015-05-28 at 12.58.52 PM.png

As the fifth anniversary of Kyron Horman's disappearance approaches, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is publicizing its ongoing $50,000 reward for information that leads to the discovery of the missing boy.

Kyron Horman was 7 when he disappeared from Skyline School on June 4, 2010. His stepmom Terri Moulton Horman had brought Kyron to school early that morning to participate in a school science fair.

The second-grader never made it back to his regular class, but he wasn't reported missing until later that afternoon when he didn't return home by school bus. Despite the state's largest search-and-rescue operation for the missing child, he hasn't been located. No arrests have been made, but a criminal investigation into his disappearance continues.

Kyron would be 12 now, and turn 13 in September..

Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton and District Attorney Rod Underhill declined to answer questions about the status of the case, but instead the sheriff's office put out a four-paragraph statement Thursday.

The case remains active , with a full-time sheriff's detective "primarily assigned'' to the Kyron missing child investigation, according to the sheriff's office.

A retired FBI agent with years of experience working on a Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team also continues his involvement in the case, reviewing evidence collected.

More than 4,000 tips have been received by the sheriff's office. They continue to come in on a daily basis, information from within the United States and globally, the sheriff's office said.

A Multnomah County grand jury has heard evidence in the case, "and is empaneled to hear available relevant testimony,'' the release said.

"The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and our agency partners in this investigation remain committed to solving this crime and bringing Kyron home,'' the statement said.

The sheriff's office released this missing flier publicizing the $50,000 reward, which contains photos of Kyron when he was 7, and other age-progressed images.

The reward is not new. Eight weeks after Kyron disappeared in 2010, the sheriff's office increased a $25,000 reward to the $50,000 amount.

Any information about Kyron's disappearance should be directed to the sheriff's office tip line at 503-261-2847.
